After another one of Baltimore's fine rock hauling dump trucks sent a rock into my Euro-cut, BMW windshield, I went searching for an alternative, with a more rock resistant coating. Of course the VStream came up, both on their website and in the recent threads.
I spoke with "Mack" today at their factory in IL, who spent 20 minutes on the phone with me, seems like a very good guy. He said that the rumors going around about problems with the LT shield are false. There were problems with the RT shield, but not the LT shield. They have not been re-designed or re-worked in any way, since their first design. He said all of the standing orders should be shipped out next week, and after that they should be able to fill orders from then on within a couple of days, as they make all shields in house.
He related to me a story of one of their customer's who got one of the first models in Daytona, and rode 900+ miles in one day. According to Mack, the man loved the wind pattern and said it made the ride as easy as it could be.
After talking with him for that amount of time, I feel bad, but I didn't order one until I hear back from some of the folks on this site who have them on order. So PLEASE post reviews as soon as possible, so I can spend more money!
I didn't mention anything concerning a "group buy", but he did mention that they tried to keep the price down, so I don't know how much profit they built in. If many folks seem interested it might be an avenue to explore.
