Jarhead - The Movie

Saw this movie this weekend with Sue, great visuals!
The book was better, as always it seems.

I didn't like the movie, nor the book. I was in the Marines and I never saw anything like which was portrayed.

My son is interested un joining the Navy or Marines, he was not interested in either after the movie. We talked a lot about what Hollywood does to make things more dramatic. I thought the movie was really bad.

The documentary "Ears, Open. Eyeballs, Click" (2005) takes the viewer into USMC boot camp for three months, and the only dialog is that which a recruit would observe. For the would-be Marine, it's the next best thing to being there.

Tell him to look at the Air Force. If he wants adventure...pararescue is where it's at.

I watched this last weekend. :sleep:

I kept waitng for the action that never really happened. I thought perhaps that was the point - that being in the military is not all action, but is boring. The technical work - the film making was well done, ... if the story was realistic, I have no idea.
