I just felt compelled to post a big thumbs up for my local BMW dealer. The guys are really great. I started dealing with these folks in 2000 when I bought my first used BMW, a '97 RT. Although I bought it from a private party when I arrived at BMW Charlotte for service they treated me like a long time customer.
Then in 2002 when I had sold the RT and was on the hunt for a new R1150GS I shopped around for price and found a pretty good deal at a dealer about 80 miles away. Feeling guilty about not buying from Charlotte, I stopped in and told them the deal offered by the other dealer. Without a blink they said ... we will do the same deal, we want to keep your business here! Over the nearly 4 years I have owned my GS they have really treated me well. Service by appointment and completed the same day, most times I can wait. If I do not want to wait they will offer a loaner bike.
Most recently I purchased a '05 K1200LT from a Honda dealer in Raleigh, NC as the deal was just TOO good to pass up. I just about stole the bike. It was due for the 12K service so off to Charlotte BMW I went. The service was completed as were a few warranty items, one of which was the replacement of the dash/instrument panel as the entire gauge housing was deformed ... strange I know. But all was replaced without question and works fine. BUT the day I picked the bike up we headed off fro breakfast where my buddy noticed a crack in the plastic housing around the dash right next to the gas filler door. I was 99% sure that crack was not there when I took the bike in. So back to the dealer we headed. I showed the crack to the owner Mark who asked the service manager to have a look. While the service manager was 99% sure the crack was there when the bike went in Mark, without hesitation, said "we worked on that area, that part was off the bike .... just order him a new part! While we both agreed we could not be 100% certain if the crack was there when the bike went in for service Mark's handling of the matter has solidified my loyalty to BMW Charlotte. He could very easily have told me to take a hike. But he said if BMW won't warranty the part, he would make it right. That my friends is why I own a BMW and that is why I have a sense of loyalty to this dealer!! They treat customers like gold and seem to really value the customers they have!!
If you are in the area or passing through and need anything for your BMW please stop in and see Mark, the owner, or Bob the service manager. Larry and Kevin are the sales guys who are great and never pushy.
Just wanted to give praise where praise is due!
