Can you install the BMW cruise control for newer RS units on a 98 model?

I looked into this when I had my 2001 K1200RS. Nobody could tell me if it could be done, but just looking into the parts, it was cost prohibitive. In the $1500 range for the parts. Then expect a lot of time for labor.

www.mccruise.com (http://www.mccruise.com) makes a unit for the 1998-2001 K1200RS. It worked very well.
