Just back about an hour ago from 6 hours with my wife and another couple on a little trip. We were on our LT, they were on their Star (Yamaha) cruiser. Left after lunch; stopped in the foothills of the Hocking Hills (SE Ohio) for ice cream; rode through the Wayne National Forest, in awe of the natural beauty. Stopped at Ash Cave (largest recess cave in Ohio, and one of the largest in the US); returned to Lancaster for dinner.
My wife tooks lots of photos from the back seat of the LT, and even a few video clips; none of those are worth posting -- the quality of the video mode from my digital camera is far less than that of a "real" camcorder. The attached photo, however, just about sums up what a great day it was -- my wife and I are at a point we did not think was going to happen about 9 months ago: We came very close to selling the LT after putting 2k miles on it (we were going to go with the Gold Wing :eek: ) because I couldn't get used to slow-speed handling issues, I couldn't get used to riding two-up, etc. Now I have attained a modest level of competency on this beautiful machine, I enjoy the twisties, and I ride just fine with her behind me. Best of all, she ASKS to go for rides. Life is wonderful.
The best advice I have received from this site is from someone who replied to one of my first posts, where I was commiserating about not handling the LT well. The response was: keep at it, and one day you'll wonder what all the fuss was. To that person I say "Thank you!"
