I've had to give up most of my motorcycle ridding due to medical issues. However, I do miss it and have about convinced myself that I could ride a light bike of some sorts. Been considering a new F650GS. BMW has lowered the price on them by about $1,700.00 . Any one of you have any experience with a F650GS? Any advice?

Nice bike, my dealer uses them as loaners. If I were to buy a bike just for putting around on sundays it would probably be the Kaw KLR. It can be lowered also and has a large cult following. Nice putt putt for almost half the price of the GS.

Or, check out a Suzuki V-Strom 650. A lotta bike for around $6500! Many use them as a poor man's GS for fireroads and quick, one-up trips around town.
But, the Alaska logs abound with V-Strom 650s and 1000s making the BIG trip, so they will cruise okay to boot!

The F650GS is a nice bike. My dealer has them for loaner bikes. I own a Kaw KLR650, which is also a nice bike. Either one is an excellent bike for putting around town. I would ride both and find out which one is more comfortable for you.
Good luck and let us know what you get!

BMW has lowered the price on 2006 F650GS to $7,500. Add heated grips, ABS, warning flashers, and center stand for $470.00. Dealer said BMW lowered the price to compete with bikes like the KLR and V-storm. Seems like a pretty good bike for that price.

Yeah, visited today and found that they're blowing out the door at the new lower price. It's an ok bike for 7500. Little over the top at 10k.
I've seen KLR's advertized in LA and OC for 5k OTD.
