Has anybody changed out the clutch on a K75? The books say you need a special tool for alignment.........is there a way around this?

Any tips on the procedure will be much appreciated.

John , Before removing the clutch take a picture of the alignment. You can use a deep socket to fit into the spline of the center clutch plate(fiber plate) and center that plate To the clutch housing cover. BMW suggests the use of a mandrill and centering bar , way over kill. If you eyeball it and use the socket to adjust placement of the center clutch plate the trans will slip right in. Remember to have the trans in gear, you will have to rotate the trans input shaft via the output shaft so the splines align. Here is a picture of my LT clutch prior to removal.
