Metzler Tire prices?

I'm not looking for anyone's opinion on why or why not to use the Metzlers. I'm looking for what you guys are paying for the Metzlers.

The reason I ask is that we have only three dealers in Michigan, Detroit - Grand Rapids - and Erhard. I dopped the bike off at Detroit yesterday for the Annual w/Inspection and new tires. The price for the tires mounted and balanced is $385. For the last few years it has been $330. So I called Grand Rapids this morning to find out what they charge, $375... They have always been $325. So I asked him why the $50 jump, and he said they went up like $20 a tire not long ago. Erhard has stayed strong at $470... don't even ask why.

Have any of you experienced this in your area yet?

From Ron Ayers (www.ronayers.com) a set of ME880's are about $225 delivered to my door. Shipping went up and so did the tire costs. I use to get them for about $202.

I looked at SW Moto Tire and can get them delivered for about $220 right now.

That Harbor freight tire machine paid for itself quickly.

$375 is probably not bad installed. I usually pay about $110 a tire online but, they probably are more now. I normally get them from "dicountmotorcycletire.com" but ,I got my last set with "hondadirectline". I usually buy my tires, remove the wheels myself, get the tires mounted & balanced, & them reinstall the wheels myself. Unless I can stand there & watch I don't trust anyone reinstalling the wheels, I have seen wheels installed with the rotation reversed, rear tire in front & reversed, brake pads in with back plate towards the rotor, mufflers that were removed to install the tire (Yamaha) fall off on the way home. All of these were at different Yamaha & Honda shops, maybe it would never happen at a BMW shop.

Generally about $ 200 per tire installed for the Metz's. Turn key.

I ordered a set 1 month ago from South West Moto Tire they were $208.00 delivered and then I paid $20/wheel for mounting and balancing. Both the Plano and Ft. Worht BMW dealers quoted me $518 for a set, and Lone Star BMW quoted me $400, but I would have had to ride to Austin. $385 sounds reasonable to me for a dealer price. :)

Hate to be the one to break it to ya, but dicountmotorcycletire.com is gone - been gone for about a year now. Used to get tires for my ol GS-1000 from 'em. Apparently, thinking they were almost too good to be true, was true.

I just talked to Ron today and he said I could get either Metzlers or BT020's out the door for about 300.00 They charge 12.50 to mount/bal when you buy the tires from them.

I checked at SWmoto they were 92 and 112 shipped for the BT 020's
about 50 to have them mounted/balanced if I brought the wheels in to a local shop.

I just ordered tires here, and yes even through our distributor the Metzelers went up about 20 bucks each, sure wish I had order the lot a few weeks back........

The last time I had Metzlers installed they cost about what yours did. That was about a year and a half ago so they didn't have the price hike you mentioned.
