Just ordered mine last week. I was told they have about 90 on back order. I was told it would be about two weeks for them to get caught up. We"ll see what happens.

FINALLY! An aftermarket POLYCARBONATE windshield. That one I would try if I had another LT.

I also ordered one from my dealer two weeks ago. Ztechnik stated that the first production run was last week and first shipments would start sometime this week. Ztechnik is selling them at 179.95. The price is stated on their web site.

May we never find the end of the road!

If it works as claimed, and they can keep the build quality up, then Cee Bailey may have some serious competition.

Wow!!! That looks sweet!!!I've had my CB #2 on the bike for a grand total of 3 days and now THIS is out there. Wonderful. Now I'll have to find someone who has one and check it out. Yes, I like what the CB #2 does for me, but it's not perfect. :)

This looks like it's only useful if you look over the windshield... I never do that. I absolutely hate getting beat in the head by the wind... It's noisy, it fatigues my neck, and it makes my eyes water. I've seen guys that have cut their windshields and have them all the way down. I asked one guy why and he got a little testy and said "I'll never look through a windshield on a motorcycle". I really don't see the point in that, but this looks like it's made for that crowd. I think this guy just can't let go of 1972... Windshields have come a long way since then.

I have the Cee Bailey #2, and it's exactly what I was looking for in a windshield. Far better than the stock one that comes on the bike.

Just my nickel...

I must say it looks 'integrated' rather than 'add-on'.
Fat chance of us over here seeing the quality before ordering...so relying on you guys to keep us updated if you would, thanks.

I made the mistake of showin' that pic to Toad. Sez we gotta have one. I think Toad is just enamored with the shiny pic, tho!! ;)

After we got shed of the old CB that Swanzy gave us (too much buffeting), and the OEM that wouldn't settle down past the tupperware ridge, we went back to the original that came with Toad; albeit scratched and delaminating just a leetle. Now, this one from ZTechnik has stirred the pot again. Dayam, do it ever end?!?!?!?

I never looked through the windshield, always over the top. That is why I loved the adjustable shield on the LT so much, could adjust it just right at any speed, and did not have any helmet buffeting. If I adjusted the shield up high enough to look through it (did that a couple times in REAL heavy rain) it buffeted badly, and the wind pushed against my back.

If a shield is adjusted properly, you should have NO buffeting if looking just over the top of it. The wind is deflect up over your head at speed and your head should be in a dead zone with no buffeting.

I had made this even better on my LT by cutting the "Euro" top shape in the standard shield. That made the center lower than the sides, and then looking over the top while still having no buffeting on the sides of the helmet was even better.

Keeerist...never got to the windshield, that friggin site is the most barfed up mess I've seen in a while. Way too much time and budget for some skitzo, psyco designer.

Screw the shield...you can't tell what they are like until they're bolted on and you're doing a buck anyway.

Good luck on a mail order shield...keep the box!

For those like me who do not know; what is the difference between this windshield and a Cee Bailey windshield?

Also, I notice from the website, that they do not offer any tint such as Cee Bailey does.

For those like me who do not know; what is the difference between this windshield and a Cee Bailey windshield?

Also, I notice from the website, that they do not offer any tint such as Cee Bailey does. The two shapes are different. CB has 2 basic shapes; #1 matches the stock BMW windshield (essentially vertical sides), #2 has a curve built into it, to push air farther up and away from the rider. Then, they also offer both models with "wings" -- little extensions of the stock air deflectors on the outboard side of your LT's stock windshield.

The Ztechnik expands outward towards the top of the shield. Not having seen a side view, however, I can't tell if it matches the stock windshield profile or if it has the CB #2's curve to it.

Also: the CB is made of acrylic; the Ztechnik is made of polycarbonate.

I think it has a shape more like this. And I can't wait to take a ride with it!

For me, there is only ONE difference that would make me consider the Ztechnic, and NOT consider the Cee Bailey. POLYCARBONATE!

If they can make polycarbonate relatively distortion free, it would certainly make me want to see one.

Jeff, I would say if you have been riding since 1972 and looking 'thru' a motorcycle winshield on a regular basis, then you are lucky to still be with us.

Unless you only ride on sunny days, into the sun...I had a 'look thru' kinda motorcycle for 2 summers and nealy died on it. Sold it 3 days after I got home from the tour of the Maritime Provinces.

Picture yourself, if you can...driving along a new black asphalt two lane major highway, ( Trans Canada Highway ), pine forests on both sides suppling a stunning array of bug guts for you to look thru, on a muggy summer afternoon day with tractor trailer trains coming at you in the opposite direction with enough wind blast to shake your usually unshakable 850 lb, non adjustable ( when moving anyway ) windshield equipped motorcycle. The dark clouds overhead suddenly open up and it is a deluge. As you realize you can now see next to nothing thru your rain, road grime and bug splattered windshield you attempt to stand on the pegs looking for a place to pull over on the new soft gravel shoulder. Within 10 minutes you realize your choice is to try and avoid a head on collision with the opposite direction traffic, try and avoid slowing too much in an attempt to avoid a rear end collision from the cages rushing up behind, or just slow down as much as possible as you pull onto the gravel shoulder and on into the ditch.

Do this for 36.8 miles untill the next exit, or you die, which ever comes first.

This was a situation that may never happen to you. But I guarantee there will be times when your forward visibility will be compromised by road grime, glare, headlight reflections at night, etc.

Good luck and hope you don't need it...

Jim

the Z-technic states it is a replacement for the short BMW shield at 21.5" vs. 24'. my question is will trhe Z-technic in the fully lowered position allow rain droplets to clear off the face shield of my helmet. This will not only depend on height but angle of departure on the slipstream.. Any input appreciated. I agree it looks like a well conceived product. but until you ride w/ it in various conditions its purely conjecture.I ride w/ the BMW 24" and overall like it execept the severe distortion when I do look thru it which is not often. But the BMW tall clears my faceshield in rain when fully lowered. an important safety factor imo

spoke to customer service a Z-technic today and they told me shipment may be delayed a week to 10 days, he said the president of the company personnally road tests each new product and said it needed further tweaking.
