R1200RT battery question

Do you know if the R1200RT is equipped with a Gel or an AGM battery? I ask because my current Battery Tender will maintain an AGM battery but the Gel battery requires a special Tender. According to Deltran, BMW currently installs both types depending on the bike model. Thank you very much.

The 2005 and 2006 R1200RT batteries are gel. Special care is needed in trickle and tending charging since the CAM BUS system will not accept a charge through the assesory ports without a whole lot more stuff.

The BMW battery tender comes with three different plugs so you can hook up to the battery direct and hide the pigtail out of the way and just pull it down when you want to charge.

Non CAM BUS bike, like my wife's R1150R can use the other hook up and charge through the assesory port.
