Tread Depth

Where is the correct place to measure tread depth? Do you find the most shallow area or is there one place where you are supposed to measure? Just wondering as I've had the last 4000 miles on my bike on the interstate and as you would expect they have worn flatter in the center.

The most shallow place determines how far the tire has worn. You should look at all places except for the small tread depth indicators you'll find at some places in the grooves (see attached).
