Alarm/key fob lite stays on

Just replaced the battery in the alarm/key fob and the little red lite stays on. I removed it and put it back, but the lite will not go out. Any suggestions?

OK, got the manual out and it said to syncro the key fob after replacing the battery. However, I still cannot get the alarm to come on. What gives?
