It finally stopped raining and warmed up a little (low: 39 degrees), Wednesday, in my neck of the woods.

I quickly mounted "black beauty" and took her out for a hundred mile ride. Got 53 MPG down the big hill, and 50 MPG up the hill!

Now that's what I'm talkin' about. I have approx 300 miles on the bike. I would expect the mileage to get better as I approach break in.

Maybe I should title this thread: "Big lady sings for daddy!"

I think the milage goes down the more miles you put on it....................as you get use to it you just ride harder an faster!

Don't know about the newer models but my 02 got 50 at 3K+ miles. Now at 13K down to about 40-42mpg. Noticed some vacuum pressure in the gas tank so performed a canisterectomy. Have yet to check the milage. Good luck with the MPG... ;)

thats the range i seem to get

85,000 miles on the bike......never seems to vary outside of that.....

biggest determinent......fuel brand......i always get higher mileage with chevron premium than any other brand.....was a die hard amoco(bp) guy but have submitted to chevron for about an extra 1.5 to 2 mpg on the average....

that and a dollar must be worth a cup of coffee :)
