Speedbleeder part# for a 2001 K1200LT

Does anyone know for sure what the part number is for a speedbleeder valve that will fit a 2001 K1200LT w/ABS? I want to replace the old bleeder valves on my LT, but I cannot find any information on this forum regarding the correct part number(s).

speedbleeder.com shows a part number for 1996 and up, but I do not know if that is a universal part number for all BMW motorcycles? I spoke to one of the sales reps, but he could not tell me for sure what the part number is for a 2001 K1200LT. However, he did say that I could measure the thread size of the existing bleeder valve.

I don't want to dive into the brake system just yet, weather is too nice at the moment in ATL, unless there's no other option for determining the correct thread size/part #!

What kind of calipers are on your bike. BMW or Brembo..
I think the first one is the correct one. M 10 X 1.0
SB 1010 S is what fits my 99.

Does yours have the linked brakes ? I'm not really up on the time when the brakes changed, seems like it was 02...I think your 01 is the same as my 99

David Shealey will chime in here in a minute or two and tell you for sure.;

Don't forget to heat the caliper and clutch line to remove the bleed adapters and install the speedbleeders... Otherwise you'll likely mess up trying to remove them...

I have Brembo calipers, but I don't know if they're linked or not? How can you tell?


I read a previous post that mentioned..."This is the first of a couple of articles on brake bleeding. This covers the non-linked ABS brake system which was standard before 2002." The article has great instructions on how to replace the bleeder valves.

If the calipers say Brembo then they're not Integral (linked). If they say BMW then you have the newer Integral brakes.

Then the pN is the SB1010S.....That'll work for you.. You'll need 5 if you also do the clutch. I highly recommend them they turn a difficult job into a 30 min breeze..

Once installed that is....

My 2001 used SB1010S --- I got 5 of them and also purchased the speed bleeder bag and hose combo.

They work like a champ.
