2000 LT windshield has what I thought was small water spots, after further investigation ( trying to clean it ) found that the protective coating is coming off in tiny spots, like an acid has been sprayed on it. Only thing different from cleaning with soft cloth and water is cleaning with the Honda cleaner polisher. Question = can the protective coating be removed or do I need a new windshield?
TIA

Do yourself a HUGE favor, and replace it with a Cee Bailey's shield. You'll wonder why you lived with the stocker for so long...

Sonny-
Have BMW replace the windshield (if its still in warranty) then get a Cee-Bailey. My stock shield had small areas where the coating was starting to pull up off the surface of the screen. Not bad until you had to ride at night. It is a safty issue.

Same thing happened to my 2000 RT windshield, so I sold it and bought a new LT. So far after 2 washings, the windshield is looking good.

Go to the Forums directory. Click on BMWLT.net Forums Archive. Do a search from all dates and you should find posts with directions for removing the coating.
