What can I say, There are 2 "must have" add on's to an LT:
a) HID light (got that one covered on the new bike)
b) a custom saddle made to fit *MY* posterieur by Rick Mayer (going to be done on the second day of owership on the new bike next Wednesday
All the rest of the farkles are just that: Farkles.
IMNSHO these are the $600-$850 you will never regret you spent.

Took me about 6 months do do it on my first bike, back in 1999. (actually, I was is first custumer with K1200LT).
Then when I bought my 2002, my very first trip was to do it again.
I would not ride my LT w/o Rick Meyer seat.
You can see some old photos here:

Those are from my old 1999.
He change the design a little big for the 2002, nothing major, but the confort still the same.

Took my 2002 LT to Rick over in CA. He did the seat in 2.5 hours.
Old seat (factory) = 2 hour rides
Rick's custom = 1,000+ mile days with no problems.
I'm a big guy and love the seat. I WILL put one on my K1200GT when it arrives.

Of course there is also another option, the Kontour seats sold by a member of this forum::thumb:

Plus Ron is a nice guy... he bought stuff from me!:D
I am sure you will find a lot of feedback on both Rick Meyer and Kontour products on this forum, hence making your decision even more difficult!
Either way your butt will be happy in the end...:yeah:

I purchased mine 2 years ago and couldn't do without it. The longest day I've had on my Rick Mayer saddle was 1546 miles in 22 hours and 6 min. Not a sore spot anywhere. Absolutely the most comfortable saddle I've ever owned.
Not to mention, Rick is really one nice guy, an orthopedic nurse and rides his own saddles. Also, he is an active IBA rider.

I'm still saving for an LT, But I have a Rick Mayer saddle on my Kaw ZR-7S, stock seat anything over 100 miles was torture, and anything over 30 miles two up was impossible.. I haven't gone over 150 miles since I got it, but it feels the same at the end of 150 miles as it did the first 10 miles, and two up is no different than riding solo. The guy knows what he is doing.

Rick knows how to make a saddle, and the best way to have a custom saddle made to fit your back side is to do it in person. Butt if you have to send it out then be very specific on what your looking for and send pictures of you on the stock seat. Then be patient and give him time to do it right......
Here's my latest......

I stopped to see Rick on the GS on my way to CCR last year. He turned the most miserable seat I've ever owned into a 1000mi a day seat in 2 hours. :)
As Andy said, it's the best money you'll spend... plus you're spending it with a stand up guy who loves what he does!
