Did a search no luck. I am looking to put a trailer hitch on my 05 LT to pull a camper I just purchased. Any suggestions? I have looked at a picture at hitch doc and there hitch looks low. Also any wiring ideas?

Thanks Rodg

Go to www.dauntlessmotors.com for the best hitch for the LT. They also supply the wiring harness adapter.

I'll second the vote for www.dauntlessmotors.com (http://www.dauntlessmotors.com/). I have a Dauntless hitch with adapters for conventional as well as UniGo trailers and love it.

I'm surprised you couldn't find any archives on hitches, you may want to try again.
I found enough to keep me busy for several hours.
There are many choices, the two better ones are Dauntless and Bushtec.
Regarding wiring, just be sure to purchase the isolator relays to safeguard the LT's electronics, available from both afore-mentioned manufactorers and some auto parts stores.

Does installing an OEM trailer hitch void your BMW warranty?

I guess the best answer is maybe. BMW does not recommend pulling a trailer with any of their motorcycles. If BMW feels that towing a trailer contributed to the cause of whatever failure you are trying to get covered under warranty then they can void it for that repair. If your windshield motor dies then it would be hard to make that connection. Unfortunately pulling a trailer could affect the frame, brakes, engine and pretty much all the running gear.

But then again overloading the bike can void the warranty too. It would just be harder for them to know or prove that it had been overloaded.

Hitch docs hitch is easy to remove so they wouldn't know for sure. Some dealers and mechanics use any excuse to get their rate up. I installed my wiring using a standard light signal modifier. You can buy at any auto parts store. I did not cut any wires and taped them where it would be easy to hide. Sneaky

No such thing....an "OEM trailer hitch" for the LT. BMW simply doesn't offer one.

I'll have a Dauntless hitch the middle of June if you are interested,
I would suggest the purchase of the wiring harness from Dauntless not that $$.

Going to have to rename the 06 Lt.

Uh, OK. If I'm ever in the market for one, I'll keep you in mind.

I might be in the market for a hitch. Am thinking of getting a cargo trailer for my 2K LT. How much would you be asking?

If daddo does not take it I am interested. I have the trailer but no hitch.

I too am looking for a hitch for my 04 LT. Has anyone ever used the hitch made by Custom Cruiser Chrome out of Canada? It is about half the price of the others you guys have been talking about. I pull a small cargo trailer that may weight 200 lbs fully packed.
I really appreciate this forum, I have learned so much from you guys.

I will have to pass at this time - my money went to my kid in D.C. to pay for her parking space. She is interning (no pay) at the public defenders office and has to pay for her parking also.

Looking at their webiste, they don't appear to have a trailer hitch for a K1200LT. They have some mention of 1975 to 1995, but no pictures. I'd be very hesitant to buy anything without seeing it first. JMHO

However their website does have a listing for the K1200LT (http://www.customcruiserchrome.com/product/135). It even has a picture for what it is worth.
