Hello Guys,

We have FM radio over here, and in the UK, they also have digital radio. But we do not have Satalite Radio. In fact, I am not really sure what it is, although I guess the name says it all. I have a perception, right or wrong, the it will offer hundreds of stations, as opposed to the 10 - 20 available on our FM. Additionally, I have the perception that Satalite Radio would allow me to pick up all your Country Music Stations. These are only available on the internet for me.

So, Quesion one is Can I , or have you fitted Satalite Radions to the LT
but much more importantly, Question Two is, would a US Satalite Radio work in Europe?

Do you think that the location of the receiver to the Satalte is relevant?

Finally, what is the general perception of these Satalite Radios by most people, good, great, or a novelity still?

Thanks

Mark in Ireland

Hi Mark,

Due to the positioning of the satellites, there are currently two competing platforms for satellite radio in the U.S. and to a limited degree in Canada, and they are Sirius and XM Radio. You can check out both of these platforms by clicking here (http://www.xmradio.com/) and here (http://www.sirius.com/) to see and hear what they have to offer in the way of programming. You are right in that this type of media is not currently available in Europe, but I have read and understand that it is “on the horizon.” As for use on the LT, except for connecting an mp3 player many, if not most, LT’ers have gone to satellite radio as the music source of choice and it is very adaptable to the LT. I wouldn’t leave home without it. The positioning of the receiver is irrelevant, however positioning of the antenna can be an issue. There are several options, but generally if it has a clear and unobstructed view of the sky you will get good reception. The relative size of the units themselves makes it particularly suited for use on a motorcycle; with the one caveat being that most models are not waterproof and must be protected from the elements. I would start doing a Google or other search engine search to find published articles addressing the anticipated deployment of satellite radio in Europe.

One of the best features is that you can go hundreds of miles from home and never "lose" the signal. With FM here in the States, if you travel say 50 miles from home the signal being broadcasted from the radio stations loses strength. The sound starts to fade out and all you get is static. I just got back from a 500 mile trip in my car, the signal never faded.

The stations are great! A station for every genre of music- 50's, 60's, 70', Blues, Country, Classical, etc.

When Sat. radio becomes available, I recommend you get one.

Good luck!

Hello Guys,

I was hoping that you would reply Sat Radio is terrible so not worry about it.

Now I am tormented knowing that you have access to all those stations and I have two or three that I am interested in.

Thanks anyway for the reply, I will do what you suggested on Google,

Mark in Ireland.
