You should consider modifying your route through Nebraska and riding down highway #2 from Alliance to Grand Island this route is through the high plains sand hills and is a scenic ride. When ever we travel to north western Nebraska we choose that route.

This course has you guys doing a lot of 'Driving" I think you should keep your options open, I bet the locals start chiming in with altenate routes better suited for "Riding"

Thanks for your hint, James.

This is just the kind of input we are looking for!

I already modified our route...

Sorry, Brian

but did you refer with your comment to our overall route or to the Nebraska route that James proposed?

We are of course a lot depending on the experiences / suggestions by the locals and "riding" is something we are more eager to do than "driving", as long as we know where the best riding routes are...

So keep the suggestions coming. I will present the "synthesis" of our final route closer to the departure time.

Best regards

Ari,
Sorry to hit and run like that. I had some neighbors coming by so I didn't have time to finish what I started. 2 things stood out to me about your plan, First is that you planned on using a lot of the major interstate freeways. They usually are not the best suited for Lt riding. Very straight and lots of car and truck traffic. Not very scenic either. And secondly, Your route takes you through the the plains states. They will be very HOT and very FLAT. Wyoming is beautiful, From there I would go down through Colorado and New Mexico. Stay in the mountains of those two states and you will be rewarded with truley beautiful country and cooler temps. After New mexico you can make up a lot of time through Texas or Oklahoma because there northern sections will be generally flat and hot. There is a lot of great riding in Colorado and New Mexico that should not be missed. Plenty of great camping and available hotel rooms along the way. Hopefully some one from Co and NM can help you with the best routes. You will find The smaller highways much nicer in scenery and riding. Enjoy your trip!!!

Ari,
IF you maintain the route you're showing above, I'd be interested in joining you from Grand Island / Lincoln on down to CCR. I'll be coming from Utah and while I was considering 'just busting down' to GA on the super slabs, I'd be willing to 'ease' the pace and join you on the back roads of mid America if you'll have me. If that is a possibility, let me know the dates you were planning on crossing the mid-west ...

Take Care,
God Bless,

Richard,
I'll certainly put that in my 'consideration jar' ... appreciate the offer! I was looking to stay in Nashville the day before getting to Braselton, but could make that a mid-morning stop on the final day ... I'll be one up coming and going, but will pick my wife up in Atlanta.
IF I don't meet up with Ari, I'll likely be coming from Lincoln, NE. When would you like a 'for sure we'll be there on 28th of August, about 5-6pm' type committment?

Thanks again,
God Bless,

Very good call on run'n Hwy-14 East of Cody to Sheridan. Great ride.

Do watch the road - winter is harsh on the surface. Haven't seen that pavement in a few years myself. Last I saw, there were some pot holes and rough spots. Seems there were good rumors of a total resurfacing though.

Any chance to ride 14 aughta be taken by anyone.

I'd be tempted to run up there just to follow along there with ya. When're you take'n that run? See if I can get the work schedule to comply.
