I have some maps for you to peruse when you have a chance, and some directions. feel free to ask any questions!

I grabbed RTE 2 in Montpielier VT, and then routed you down to 112 and the kancamangus over and across NH. After the kanc, up through Conway NH, and onto RTE 16, straight through the heart of the White Mountains. In Gorham NH, pick up RTE 2 again, and head into western maine. Rte 2 to Mexico ME and then due north on RTE 17 (this is called Height of Land) an absolutely gorgeous road up through the mountains and western lakes. Make sure you gas up in Mexico, its pretty empty up there until you hit Oquassoc and Rangely.
After Rangely, I have you headed up RTE 201, following the Kennebec River.
This is where there are lots of white water rafting camps. pristine, and gorgeous, again, gas up before you get to the "oh darn point!"
After Jackman, take RTE 15 east into Rockwood, then on to Greenville. This area is literally loaded with MOOSE, drive carefully, and pay attention to the sides of the roads!! daytime driving only up here, after dark, the roads seem to come alive with deer, moose, and the occasional black bear.
Greenville to Dover Foxcroft, then down 11 into Bangor. From here you are headed down 15 to Bucksport, along the Penobscot river. I have you going into Stonington ME, but you can easily break off in Bucksport and hit Ellsworth and down to Mount Desert Island (Bar Harbor)
Take a peek, and I can tweak anything that you want. If you dont want the western Mtns of Maine, let me know, and i can take them off easily.
