Hi guys, I may be getting a little paranoid here but I am going to pick up my bike from its first 12,000 ml service and an annual as well in the morning.
Seven and a half hours labour and I have been told to expect in the region of £500. Can this be right??? Also the air filter is not included in the usual service cost apparently.

I was quite shocked at the charge of my 12k and annual I had last month. Here's the invoice in US $.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Jacques, working on a £1 - $1.74 rate just taken off google It seems like I may be getting off light. But that depends on what the final bill is when I get to the dealer. He is usually quite a good guy though. Many thanks Stuart

Stuart my 12,000 mile service was £510 and no they didn't change the air filter and I'm pretty sure they didn't check valve clearances either!
Get yourself the Paul Sayegh DVD, it honestly isn't that hard to service the bike yourself. I've just done the 36k (2 year) service with no problems, even managed to change one of the buckets.
I was initially reluctant to strip the bike down but the DVD's hold your hand throughout the whole process. I paid £40 for the DVD's and parts were about £90 for a full service, thats quite a saving!
If you didn't live so far oop north I'd pop over and give you a hand!

I am just up the M56 not to far from you if you want to have a go yourself next time and save some ££££'s give me a call.
I have had 3 LT's my latest an '05 se and serviced them all myself without any problem.
The only thing I will not attempt is the bleed/flush on the brakes, and the only thing I can,t do is check fault codes.
Past experience of BMW dealers have left me cold as each time they did any work on my bikes I have to recheck and repair thier efforts.
The last time they messed up I ranted at the dealer principal and he admitted that I could probably do the work better than his staff.
Don't blame the mechanics, they are not allowed the time to do all they should,I know I have been a mechanic for 35years.
BTW let me know how much your final bill is and who did the work (better reply to this bit by PM to save any embarrasment).

Just had a 12k and annual service completed with a valve check and the cost was £431,75.
Discounted because of quiet period in January.
The dealer was clark,s in Birmingham.

I eventually had to part with £505, for the service which included an air filter. It seems a lot but they did let me take a K1200s home for the duration (Thursday night to Saturday morning) - What a brilliant bike, if I can just find the money and a little more space in the garage>
Again thanks gents (and ladies)

I suppose the dealer was Blue Bell in Crewe . (robbin gits)
My service consisted of , air filter change ,clutch fluid change and full brake fluid change , and valve check (2 years old almost) as per 12k and anual service combined.
