Kansas City to Rapid City,S.D. June 2, 2006

My Wife and I are traveling from Kansas City, MO. to Rapid City, South Dakota June 2 to go to the Volksmarch at Crazy Horse that weekend. Anyone who is interested please respond, and about two weeks before we can plan it out. We will be cutting across Kansas and Nebraska entering the South West corner of South Dakota. If anyone has any good roads they know of please let me know.

The entire SW corner of SD has great roads in it. One of my favourites is 16A between Keystone and Rapid City. Another is Needles, and another is.....

I think you get the drift. Lots of good stuff out that way including the badlands and Crazy Horse is pretty impressive. You need to watch out for 3 things out there:

1. State/Park patrols. Speed limits are enforced
2. Loose gravel on the roads from mountains crumbling
3. And finally if the first two don't slow you down, buffalo and burros frequent the roads. You DO NOT want to hit a buffalo, you will loose.
