Here's the story.... "05 LT radio and V.O.I.C.E II went out. The radio would come on when The on button was pushed, but only the CD would play and there was no volume track or any other functions working...the helmet to helmet would work for about 30 seconds and then the system would shut itself off again. The handlebar radio controls were inoperative as well...very strange.

I dropped it off at A&S BMW in Roseville (CA) to have the radio replaced under warranty. They ordered the parts and started troubleshooting.....ten hours worth of labor with two techs working it fulltime finally discovered that the radio and controls we're fine. The IceLink adapter for the IPOD had failed and as soon as they unplugged it from the CD Changer cable, everything worked fine? This is the first time I've heard an IceLink adapter fail and cause these type of symptoms. The shop is now going to check the IceLink FIRST...from now on, and as a good faith gesture to me, I'm getting off the hook for about 6 hours of the labor (thanks A&S...much appreciated!)

I'm hoping that someone might save themselve's a little money by reading this post. Just my luck, that the "one" accessory I have, would go bad in less than a year.

Like they say..."If it has boobs, wheels or a hard drive...It's gonna cause you problems!"

Is the "Icelink" adapter a dealer supplied accessory? If it is there should be no charge, I suspect it is not which concerns me even further. Good logical troubleshooting would be for the Technician to FIRST disconnect any after market device and see if that cleared the problem. This would be a 30 minute charge. Why did they order parts before they started troubleshooting?

This sounds like another case of crummy a dealership. I l love my K1200 but I am very disappointed with the dealerships.

I'm guessing that they disconnected my Blue Sea fuse boxes, which would have shut down power to all of the accessories...except the IceLink. The IceLink Ipod adapters have a spotty history with reliabity and most people have had trouble getting the displays to work properly (not everyone, but most). Mine was working fine for almost a year (without scrolling text display) up until last week? I'm not going to replace it. They're $200 at Best Buy. I think it'll be throwing good money after bad at this point. The XM is doing me just fine.
