Has anyone installed grip heaters on the passenger grab handles? Could I power them from the same switch as the passenger seat and backrest? What do you think?

I think a passenger would be better off with some heated gloves, like those sold by Gerbing. http://www.gerbing.com/divmc/clothing/glovesg3.html

The Aerostich catalog used to include (perhaps still does include) some heated grip covers that wrap around and install with velcro. I saw a GoldWing with that type of grip heaters on the passenger grab handles. The design of the GoldWing seems better suited than the KLT handles for that sort of thing.

I couldn't agree with Gerard (BMWphreak) more. Why would you want to confine the passenger to holding onto the grips just to warm their hands? Heated gloves will heat their entire hand so much more effectively (the backs of their hands too)...and without confining or restricting the passenger's movement. I know why wife prefers to hold on to me, rather than the grips. Then again...I'm just so darned HUGable! :D

Yes, heated gloves make the most sense, IMO. No restrictions except the length of the cord into the BMW socket (and that length can be increased). Gerbing's G3 gloves, however, are scarce as hen's teeth -- each production run get sold out; my pair has been on order since early December and I don't have them yet. I think Spring will arrive first! In the meantime I am enjoying my Gerbing socks and jacket liner.
