In anticipation of watching the Super Bowl yesterday I went for a ride to clear my mind's fog. Leaving Burlington, NC I headed northeast on NC Highway 49 all the way to Clarksville, Va. Rather uneventful but nice nevertheless. As I reached my turnaround point I heeded some sage advice I'd heard before "As long as I have gas in my tank I'm not lost" To which I'd like to add: "And my GPS is in operable order". The Commonwealth of Virginia is blessed with many, many small state roads that sometimes appear to lead to nowhere. Well, I took one of 'em yesterday and the photographs below show what I found along the way. A huge lake/resevoir complete with a dam, tug boat display, and rest area/picnic area-way nice place. The photo's were shot at Kerr Lake which straddles the NC/Va line near Clarksville, VA.

After making these photo's I rode down to Raleigh, NC home to www.scootersbar.com an upscale Harley-Davidson bar/restaurant. While sitting at the bar I struck up a conversation with a 'Big Dog' owner-nice enough fellowto be sure but talk about cultural clash! I could go on but choose not to...Anyhoo, I'm off the the local YMCA to shed what I gained at 'Scooters' yesterday!
