Need help with proper orientation of the RED and BLACK wires on this plug. The wires pulled out of the back of the plug upon disassembly thursday. Subsequint to this my CB,GPS and com system do not work. The fuses are intact. Help !

In most cases, red would be postive (+) wire and black would be negative (-/ground). Can't tell from the picture but are you saying these were attached/connected to the connector in the forefront?

My guess is red goes to green and black goes to brown. Solid brown on the bike is almost 99.9999% ground leaving green to be positive.

I would agree 100% with our very knowledgeable Raffy! Red=Pos, and Black=Neg is the standard. Concurrently, like our man Raffy says, Brown=Neg in BMW parlance, which would leave the Green(?) wire as your Pos.

Raffy agree with red and green +, black and brown ground. But the question is in which holes of the 4 plug connector does the red and black wire belong.
Thanks

From the look of your picture, the green and brown wires are jumpered to both the left and right side of the connector. Looking at the picture, I'd guess you could have the red/black in either the left side in the orientation you have shown, or the right side in the same orientation.

Just curious, if you disconnect the plug, are all 4 wires at the bottom of the plug attached to the connector pins?

Solution The 15 amp fuse was blown on the bike side of the Plug. All is fine after proper wire orientation.

Please note , proper placement of the Red and Green wire.
The Red Goes to the green wire in the plug and the black wire goes to the brown wire. Both wires are inserted into the center 2 sockets. The orientation in the picture attached is incorrect. Place the wires as stated above. I will take new picture and post tonight with correct orientation

Ok, let's number the pins on the bottom of the four pin connector starting from the left. Notice that pins 1 & 3 are jumped together, as are pins 2 & 4. Now I'm not sure why this is, but if you put the red wire to either pin 1 or 3 then you get the same net result. Also the black can connect to either pin 2 or 4.

Maybe there's a reason why the center two sockets were used, or the jumpers added, but electrically there's no difference between your current picture and the new setup you described.

I agree with the red in position 1 and black in position 2. This creates another power source to tap into.
Perhaps a clean power source for the V-1 without the dreaded distortion when hooked up to the battery.
