You may have seen in an earlier post where my dealer performed my 12K service and did not put the tupperware back on correctly. I want to correct this myself but have never taken that part of the tupperware off.

The diagram I have does not cover the top front part of the bike (see below).

Does anyone have a diagram or can explain this to me?

Thanks,

Dick

Hey, Jacques - call me (210-416-0306) or PM me your phone number and I'll call you (there is no charge for me if I call you) and run thru the procedure with ya. It's pretty much all there in the diagram - just a coupla points of reference.

Jacques,

On your second picture, the gas cap holder seems to always get stuck behind the plastic. I didn't even know I had one on my first bike until I put about 20k miles on it.:)

Hey, Jacques - not sure I'm gonna be around here when/if you PM; butt I'll have my phone handy. Working in the garage, removing all of Toad's tupperware and canister, so thought I'd give you this for review.

Take a look here (http://www.snafu.org/pics/k12lt/print.html)

Hi Jacques,
I'm sorry I was not around today to give you a hand. I hope you got the help you needed today. If not let me know and I'll help you. The diagram you have does cover the top part, and I have circled the screw on the left side that needs adjustment for the radio. As for the fuel filler cup, you can pry the rubber bits back with screwdriver, as they are quite pliable. Yell if you need anything.

I got mine back today and the the little rubber Gas cap holder was folded under the tupperware. Showed the tech before I popped it out with my finger.
Good Info from this site. They were surprised I noticed this.

The "capture" of the rubber thingie and pinching of the fuel overflow cup can often be fixed without removing any screws.
Just pull and poke until things get back to where they oughta be; squirt a little silicone spray or WD40 in/around things to make it easier. HTH

Well I gave it a shot. Got about 16 screws out and couldn't get the tip over wing off. Then I started to feel overwhlemed. I freaked out and put everything back together.

Dick, Muns et al, I appreciate your help but I think I should probably attempt this at a tech day or with someone else who knows what they're doing. :(

Reference your picture on the left in your post shows about a 1/4" gap in the tupperware. My 2000 which has not been apart also has 1/4" gap. So my question is, is that gap normal or should it be tight with on gap. Would others look at there bike and respone to what is the proper gap?

Don't know what the 'proper' gap is, butt I've seen lotsa differences in the gappage around various LTs. Kinda like a leetle off-tweak here and a too tight bolt there and at the end - gappage this time; no gappage next time. Toad's dash gap right now is about a 1/4", butt the gas cap retaining stalk is in full view! Plenty of room for adjustment on that gas filler overflow lip.

Jacques, it might be somethang you can improve on, or it might not. If there are no stress or rubbing sounds, I'd just grab the gas cap retaining stalk and pull it out from under the panel and adjust the fit of the molded joining lip.
