Thumbnails don't have as much information in them and may not translate well if you try and blow them up... For example, your avatar at 640 x 480...

You may need a program like CPIC (www.photodex.com) or MS PAINT to help with the resizing of any photo / icon / thumbnail...

You need to have your picture hosted (located) somewhere where it can be pulled off via Internet - that means not locally on your computer.

Then, while editing your BMWLT.com message, click on the "Insert Image" icon (a little square with mountains in it) in the toolbar and enter the full Internet location of the photo.

For example, picture below is located at http://rdwalker.com/teamcattwo/Trans_Lab_2008/pix/QC2007_tl_hwy_welcome_8.jpg. While editing this reply, I clicked on "insert image", entered the full address and voila, here it is.

I am storing this picture with my own domain. You can use such method or one of the sites open to public. Many people use service like http://smugmug.com/ , which lets you upload your pictures for public viewing and then allows you to link to these pictures in your messages.

Essentially, what is happening, is that your picture still resides somewhere "in the cloud". Your post on BMWLT.com only links to that remote picture. This also means that if you decide to remove your picture from that remote location or cancel the Smugmug account, it will vanish from your post here.

You can embed as many pictures as you want in your post. Since these are not stored on BMWLT.com, the forum does not care. You will need to experiment with best size of the image, of course, to make sure it is not too big for most users' screens.

I usually store pictures for posting as 768x576 pixels, about 200KB size. The example above is about 1/4 that size.

Did this help?

Yes, that helps. I've not stored remotely before but it looks like I need to learn. Thanks.
