Does anybody have the new part number for the bearing?
The number I get fron RealOem doesn't work on Chicago or
A & S web sites.

I think mine went out today. I am getting a rough feel when I
spin the wheel. It's on an 03-2003 with 37000 miles.

Hey, Dan - you might wanna get a second concurrence on this one, butt 'moonshine' listed this number after he got the new bearing - in April '04.

"The new style 17 ball bearing part # 33 12 1 468 899 cost me $105.61"

thanks Dick, I will check it out. Now just need to decide whether
to let a dealer work on it.

MAX BMW lists this as the part #, 33121242210 . Dimensions 85x 120 x18
Price $124.00. And don't forget the seal. Call to make sure it is the 17 roller ball bearing. Good Luck

Hey, Dan - come on up to San Antonio and let Hank do it. He's got lotsa experience - takes him *maybe* three hours or so and you're out the door. Lessee - he's done grifscoots/monmon2/davemoore/encorejoe/holliday, and several others whom I can't remember. He's open Mon-Fri. Lemme know if/when you schedule it and I'll come over and take ya to lunch - great leetle burger place just down the street.

I just went through this about a week or so ago in several posts. The number "murray" mentioned is the number for the old, 19 ball bearing. The other number posted by "Dick" supercedes that number.

Both Max BMW and A&S fiches showed the number "murray" gave which will not come up at Chicago BMW. Another poster that replied to one of my posts said he got the new number - go figure.

I called Chicago BMW before I got the reply and they gave me the new number as given in "Dick's" post. That is the one I ordered.

MaxBMW does good business and I have bought a lot of stuff from them (I get a bag of M&Ms with every parts shipment :) , but they occasionally mark up stuff and aren't the cheapest. I bought my 17balls from Chicago BMW (who are known to be kind of slow at times) but are generally cheaper. Not in a hurry, or sensitive to markup on higher cost items, try Chicago. Also, I have found Bob's BMW to be quick and fairly competitive on price.
Hey, we have to support the dealers but we have to keep them working for us too, right?

Thanks, Dick
The main question is with a bike at 31 months and 37,000 miles will BMW cover the fix. If not,Hank would be the best choice. I do have a spare rear drive in the garage. Also not sure if it would make it to San Antonio
