Hi all,
I really need some help before leaving for the BMW RA Rally in Tenn.
I have the 1100x lights on the bike now. I have one that has a bad bulb. I did search the forum for answers, but I need to check something. Most answers have said to buy MR16 bulbs at Lowe's or Home Depot. I did buy two, but I am concerned about using them. The Piaa bulbs have the thick glass, or plastic cover over the reflector. The replacement bulbs, with reflector, have a thinner glass cover.
Will these bulbs stand up to rain and road vibration? Is there a certain MR16 bulb that will hold up on the road, or will they all? If any of you have been using the Lowe's replacement bulbs, how long have they been in use? I am worried about the rain.

Thanks,

Michael,

I'm running the Lowe's landscape lights and have no problem with them - BUT, the are definitely not PIAA lights! They don't burn as bright. I also have HID, so it no longer makes a big difference on their light output and they do a great job of creating the light triangle. Buy the $5 replacements and save your money and put in HID - now.

Yup, use the $5.00 bulbs from Lowes. The Piaa bulb cover is just glued on. Take yer trusty Barlow pig sticker and carve that cover off and use it to cover the other bubs.

While you're down there at the RA rally...stop by Motolight's booth and pick up a couple lamps from them. You'll have to reuse your old lens cover...but at least their lamps are 8 degrees, instead of the 12 degree lamps that Home Deport and Lowe's carry. Food for thought...

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1100X is a sealed unit, there is no lens cover left after you remove the sealed unit...

That's what I thought. But judging by what k5lo stated, I figured you could do the same with Motolight's lamps...no?
