Hi all you V1 users out there.
I'm reconfiguring my BMR Co-Pilot and want to place the V1 in a waterproof box like the Otter series.
Anyone know the box size or model that the V1 will fit into?
Thanks

The GPS case. I believe it is the 1600 series. With minor trimming of the foam padding the V1 seems will fit.
David Shealey used a different brand box. Name escapes me now.
I like the fact that the Otter has the magnetic option.

Sure don't, Dave. I used the Hoon box on the BMR shelf, specifically built for radar detectors with leetle windows on each end and a notch for the cord. Had to do some drilling, for the shelf, but no big deal. Would have been just removing the windshield if I had made the cord just one inch longer. As it was, had to take the cowling off, remove cord and make another.

I used a Pelican box, number 1020.

The only modification I had to make was cutting two small pieces out of the soft black liner to clear the corners of the V1. Very easy, just don't cut through the flange on it, as that is the seal between the bottom and top when closed.
I also cut "windows" in the liner for Laser detection, but found laser to be practically useless, so would not do that again.

Dave: How did you handle the power cord?
I assume I can cut a small hole or notch in the lip and seal it with a grommet.
Also, How did you attach the case to the LT?
Thanks for the info :)

I drilled a hole in the bottom that fit the wire pretty tightly, then silicone sealed it.
I mounted the box to the right wind wing with small screws and adhesive. Had to add a brace to stop it from vibrating, but it worked great for many thousands of miles.
I also drilled through the two cover clamps and tapped threads in the box top to install two tamper resistant screws to prevent casual theft. I left the detector in the box all the time, never had to remove it for safe keeping.
You can see it on the right wind wing in the attached picture.

Grif, do you have a pic of this? I want to waterproof the escorts on our bikes but do not want a black box as it will effect the laser capability
Thanks!

I use a Legal Speeding Radar Detector Case from http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/product.asp?Item=RB
The photo on the web site shows a V-1 in it but it fits my Escort perfect too.
