Dropped the nut for the positive battery terminal and I really don't know where it fell. Either it's hung up inside or it walked out of the garage. I'm voting for the second. What size do I need to go to the hardware store and get?

Never mind, I took off the negative bolt and lo and behold, it's the same size. DUHHH! I'll head for the hardware store tomorrow. Hope this solves my radio problem.

As I read your post I take that you at first disconnected the positive terminal ( and lost the nut) and only then decided to disconnect the negative terminal.
If you don't mind this piece of advise, I recommend don't do it this way the next time.
When disconnecting your battery you ALWAYS start from the negative terminal. And that is enough. You have disconnected the battery now. No need to touch the positive terminal unless you are in process of changing your battery or doing some elctrical mods.
If you start your disconnecting from the positive terminal you can easily short the battery to the bike frame with your 10 mm key and you don't want to do that.
Especially when doing the "radio fix" (BTW I have to do mine as well this weekend), just disconnect the negative terminal for a minute or two and that should fix it.
BTW, the nut and bolt on the battery terminals are M6 (6 mm).

The battery on my '99 sits on a "shelf" of the battery tray. There is a space between the "shelf" and the bottom of the tray, just enough space for a nut to fall under. A piece of safety wire will help fish it out.
If you used a stainless steel nut, the magnetic retrieval tool won't help.

What brand name is that battery? Gel cell or SLAB? How long will it last? Will it need a Battery Tender - in the next 10,000 years? :D
