Hi there, I am very new to the BMW scene and am currently looking at purchasing an 03 K1200LT. It has 67000 kms on the clock, which in most bikes would be considered to be quite a lot. Can anyone give me what "life expectancy" K1200's usually have? This one has had on owner since new, and was traded in for a brand new one.
I have ridden Harley's for most of my time, but am attracted to the comfort that the BMW offers. I like this particular bike, but am a little concerned with the amount of kms on it.
Any help would be great.
Cheers, Tim.

With maintenance, that bike should last a good many more kms. The longevity will surely amaze you and the smile will not leave your face........................ :bmw:

There have been members here with over 200,000 miles & a few with over 300,000 on the LT. Just enjoy the ride & if it breaks , Fix it and ride some more. :D

My 2000 K1200LT currently has 89,000 miles (143,500km) and is going strong. I have had minimal maintenance other than routine. Your machine is barely broken in!!!

As others have stated, that is a little under 43,000 miles, pretty well broken in, but still MANY thousands of miles left in her before anything major could be considered normal. One could expect well over 150,000 miles (240,000 Km) as normal on the LT.
There are two things which are not abnormal to fail early though, that is the clutch slave cylinder, which without the drilled drain hole many of us do, will take out the clutch, and final drive bearings. Those two are crap shoots, and can basically happen at any time to a relatively small percentage of LTs. Those failures and fixes are well documented on this site.
