Fort Bragg, CA Ride -October 17 - 18

It's that time again! I have most of the details together for the ride to Fort Bragg for this year. Here's the scoop so far -

Dates: Saturday & Sunday, October 17 - 18

Hotel:

Travelodge (same location as past years, just part of the chain now)
763 N Main St
Fort Bragg, CA 95437

We have a block of 30 rooms, including -

18 - 2 double beds at $65
10 - 1 King bed at $59
6 - 2 bedroom mini-suites (2 separate bedrooms with 1 bed in each) with a sitting area at $ $70


Reservations can be made starting today. Tell the desk agent you are with the David Taylor BMW Party to get these rates. The cutoff for getting rooms in our block is September 20th. After that the block will be released and go back to their normal rates.

We'll meet here for lunch at 11:30 a.m. They will open early to seat us so we don't have to wrestle with the regular lunch crowd. Best BBQ'd oysters anywhere, I swear!

Dinner:

North Coast Brewery Tap Room (http://www.northcoastbrewing.com/home.htm), 6:30 p.m.

Normal deal here, they'll stick us in the banquet room to avoid scaring the locals and we'll be able to order from the full menu. I did mention they may want to stock up on prime rib if they offer it that night. :)

And yes, they still have all the fantastic beer you could want!

Rides To and From:

Everyone pretty much does their own thing going and coming. Some folks get together and ride up and/or back, but this isn't an organized group ride where we all meet and go together in a big gaggle. This gives folks the flexibility to choose routes, stops, etc., and ride at their own pace, which keeps everyone safe and happy. Basically you know when and where lunch is, and when and where dinner is, and the riding part you get to choose and enjoy as you see fit! I'll be happy to post a Garmin file with the various stops and even some suggested routes if folks would like some suggestions. Just let me know.


That's pretty much it for now. Feel free to start booking your rooms, and once you've done that please add your name to the roster I've started on this thread so I can give the restaurants a headcount.

Howdy!

Looks like we'll have about 36 people on the ride this year, which is a good group! Long term projections are for nice weather next weekend, so that's always a good thing!

I know some folks from SoCal, Texas, and possibly Nevada are coming to the Bay Area Friday evening. As usual we will meet at the Duke Of Edinburgh on Wolfe Rd. in Cupertino at 6 p.m. for a few libations and dinner, and to start telling tall tales early in the weekend. :D Anyone who wants to join us is welcome, regardless of whether you're going on the ride or not.

For those of you who are riding out of the San Jose area, San Jose BMW has offered to open up a little early ad have coffee and breakfast snacks (donuts or otherwise) available for us Saturday morning. We can meet there at 8:45 Saturday morning and head out by 9:30 to make lunch at Tony's Seafood in Tomales Bay. For those who have done this before, you know the routine. for the new folks, just come on by and you'll get the idea quickly. :)

I'm really looking forward to this; we always have a good group and a fun time throughout the weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Highway 1 and 9 are open and ready to be blasted by motorcycles. :) None of the fires were along 9, they were over on the coast side a little north of where 9 runs over the mountains. It is a heavily tree lined road so their make still be some leaves and such in the road, and some corners may be a bit damp since it's shady under there most of the time. Just be cautious, but cautious up there is still a good time!

Just got back from The Duke for dinner and beer with ElJeffe, Jim, Ray, Rich, Chris, Cathy, Gilles, Bob and Doug. Good food and many laughs were had by all. Nice way to kick off a weekend full of riding! :)

Just a reminder for those meeting up in San Jose tomorrow morning. We'll meet at San Jose BMW at 8:45 and pull out at 9:30. SJBMW will provide some snacks and coffee to get the day started. we'll go through San Francisco and take some fun roads out ot the coast to Tony's. After lunch everyone pretty much does their own thing getting to Fort Bragg. The only thing on the agenda is dinner at 6:30 at the Tap Room

I would like to add my thanks, too. Last year was a bust because I didn't even make dinner let alone lunch and this year I found out what I missed. Good food, good people, good riding..., etc
