Just a couple notes from someone who has ridden the Black Hills quite a bit....to mention a couple things: you'll love the rides out there....the Badlands is a worthwhile area to see also. When in the Hills keep in mind a there is lot of wildlife out there. The mountani goats are often on the roads and usually right when you're rounding a hill...if you're taking that curve fast be aware there might be several right ahead of you on the road right there and now. Deer are prevalent, especially from September thru October. Night riding is something I did not do much of because of this.

Last time I was on I-90 there was a lot of construction going on and that's always a "be very careful" zone.

Nearest BMW dealer is in Sioux City, Iowa....about 80 miles from here. I've got a fair selection of tools, a manual and a spot to work on the bike if the need arises.

I live in Sioux Falls....if anyone is staying overnight I can list a few restaurants that are worthwhile. Downtown Soo Falls is pretty cool also. Perhaps several of us could find a spot and hang out for a brew and a meal. Let me know...be glad to help make the trip more enjoyable if I can.

I can't make it out there....screwed up my back (nothing major), but wish everyone a safe and enjoyable time. I'm looking forward to reading the posts following to find out how the trip was.

I would also like to say that if anyone has issues around the Rochester, MN area that I would be happy to help. The nearest dealer is either Lake Crystal (near Mankato) or Burnsville (near the Twin Cities)

I 90 is about 5 miles from Rochester. I normally try and keep up on the forum during weekend but like most of you I am out riding during that time if I can.

From what I understand the Black Hills is about a 10-12 hour trip from Rochester so this may be a good stopping point to make your final run from if you are coming from the east. From Rochester to some where in South Dakota it is flat and pretty boring on I 90. You can always take the back roads but they are pretty much straight as well other then going through every small town with a cop and a speed trap.

If you do have issues I can get my hands on a trailer and have plenty of tools to help. There is also one other member in Rochester that I am sure we can get hold of if needed.

Everyone drive safe and take care.
