I am planning an ironbutt B to B from EL Paso, TX to Canada on my way to CCR.
Anyone have a suggestion for the Canada crossing. Now I am planning on using US 85 north to the border. Garmin doesn't show much detail at the border. Are some of the roads closed for crossing?
All I need to do is cross the border and have my Ironbutt papers signed.
What region is ND? I wanted to post this in the correct forum but could not figure which region. Perhaps Canada would have been the correct forum.
In any event, any tips.

Eric,
You will need to check with the customs website to make sure they are open at the time you will be crossing. Some of the smaller crossings are only open certain hours. 8am-11pm or 6am - 8pm. The smaller crossings are usually not to busy, So thats good. Remember your passport!

We went through that border crossing on the way back from Alaska just a few weeks ago. I can't speak for the Canadian Customs agents, as we were headed south and had to deal with the US guys.
Since it's such a remote crossing we had no one else around us as we passed through. This makes for bored border guards, who decided to pretty much strip search our LTs, which were packed to the gills with stuff for our 4 week Alaska adventure. It was like Barney Fife took over border protection - I swear - and it took us 45 minutes to get cleared.
We were even asked if we were carrying any citrus... Citrus? From Canada?
Hopefully for you the Canadians won't be as - um - zealous - as our airtight US Homeland boys were.

I have crossed the Mexican border more times than I can count, and usually I get "are you a US citizen?" and go ahead!
The onetime I crossed the Canadian border, back into the US, I thought we were going to go to jail!!!!, I have never been interrogated so much in my life, and I have to pass an FBI background test every five years.
I have to have a TSA ID called a TWIC and most TSA agents have no idea what it is and request a DL or passport along with it, if you turn it over it says TSA in big bold letters. ROTFLMAO!!!!!! What you gonna do?

I have crossed at many of the crossings. The Canadian agents have always been great to deal with. The US guys can suck pretty bad sometimes. I have been lucky at the small outposts so far though. Knock on wood. To bad we can't give the bad ones an ass whooping like they deserve. As a courtesy, Raise your helmet if you have a flip up or remove it if you have a full face.
