For years we've been asked to design a seat specifically for big guys - 225 pounds and up, 6 feet tall and more and with inseams over 32".

Up until now we've always referred them to a competitor that uses steel springs as "outriggers" to provide a wider seat.

While steel springs are up to the job, they tend to be extremely hard on the outside edges and more or less force you into two specific positions on the seat: All the way back locked in touring mode, or all the way forward with your butt off the seat and feet flat on the ground at stops. They simply had no middle position - and your legs were also forced into one specific angle for long periods of time.

After experimenting with multiple composite structures and after producing half a dozen prototypes we've finally come up with what we think is absolutely the best seat in the house designed for larger guys: The KonTour MAGNUM.

Features and Benefits:

1. Our exclusive 3M visco dual density foam provides a layer directly underneath your ischial tuberosities (sitting bones) that flows away from areas of high pressure, relieving agonizing hot spots and bruising.

2. Our "wings" are made from a special 4 layer composite that is designed to provide both a high level of rigidity yet are rounded and smooth, allowing you to move around on the seat as needed. The wings add 3" overall width to the seat. Our wings have a gradual forward taper that allows a middle position on the seat for more aggressive and spirited riding in the twisties.

3. Our vapor deposited aluminized heat reflecting and waterproofing barrier (visible under our Polar Mesh outer cover) keeps the foam cores cool and dry. Expensive and baggy optional rain covers are not needed since the barrier is glued on in one piece. There are no needle holes or seams to allow water to permeate to the foam.

4. Our exclusive Polar Mesh allows copious amounts of fresh air to flow through the entire seat - including the lumbar area. Monkey butt has been terminated with extreme prejudice. Polar Mesh is 100% hydrophobic, it cannot wet.

5. The lumbar support has decreased depth to allow tall and long legged riders an extra inch movement rearward. While an inch doesn't sound like much, think of how much farther back you sit in your car when you move the seat back an inch!

6. All of these features can be adjusted specifically for each and every rider depending on your needs:

Need your seat taller? No problem. :check:

Need it lower? No problem :check:

Need to sit back 1/2" instead of 1"? No problem. :check:

Need a seat that will support your 350 lb. weight? No problem. :check:

Need a seat that is guaranteed for life for the original owner for labor, materials and UV exposure? No problem! :check:

Add all this up and you have a seat that is $90.00 less expensive than our competition. (If your order their all leather, rain cover and heavy duty suspension options) :check:

Here's a side view of a Magnum mounted on an LT and sitting in the "high" position. This is one thick and luxurious seat. This is THE seat for guys with inseams over 32". :thumb:

Thanks for posting, Ron. I'm going to link up with Chan to do a "test sit." Can you do a Kontour on a heated base or does it degrade the foam? I'm 6'3" 200# with a 36" inseam. Looking at all the options for when my Farkle budget recovers. ;)

Chan's is heated and the OEM heat works the same - the only difference is that you'll turn it on sooner than you normally would due to the wind chill factor. This can be defeated by wearing a windproof riding pant like thick leather or a 1000 denier cordura.

On the flip side when it's hot and you're wearing an armored mesh riding pant your butt is downright cool. :bmw:

At 200 lbs. we would make a completely different composite for you - Chan's will feel very stiff to you since his is designed for up to 275 lbs.

No effect on the 3M foam. It meets and exceeds Federal Aviation Regulations for heat exposure and flame resistance. If it's good enough for F-16 headrests and lumbar supports in Apache helicopters... The entire seat is unconditionally guaranteed for life for the original owner. Labor, materials, thread, fading, even UV exposure which no one else would even think of doing.

We can still get one done and back to you by the end of the month... after that we're into mid-September. It takes two days once in our shop.

Hi there Ron, I had an earlier Contour on my 03 LT which proved to be a great success for me. Especially after you carried out a 'refil' to cope with my 285lb!

The LT went a couple of years ago, and I recently got myself a GSA. With it comes a whole new 'world of hurt', with another poor BMW saddle - poor for me that is. Now on our way home from CCR09, I am reading with interest of the Contour Magnum. Do you make one for the GSA?

Having read the opening comments above on the new Contour, I thought you had been looking at me suffer with the stock Beemer GS saddle! Could be time for another Contour!

Ron,

I purchased a KonTour non-heated seat from you a few years back for my 2000 LT, which I have enjoyed. I would like to know if you can upgrade the seat for my 36" inseam. My weight is 220#. If it can be, what would be the cost?

Thanks
