Hi guys,
Just booked my holiday this year, leaving the UK, riding with a friend down to florence/Pisa in Italy where my wife and his will fly out to spend 5 days touring the area before they fly home. It's the best of both worlds (for those of us whose wives are not keen on doing huge mileage on the bike) we camp on the way down and back, but have 5 nights in a really nice hotel!!!
We want to go down via the Millau bridge in southern France, but can anyone recommend any interesting places/campsites/historic areas we should visit on the way down/back?
Many thanks
Simon

If you can go via Switz lots of twisty and spd, return over the dolomites and Mont Blanc in the French Alps then up thru fr. I've gone to le Mans five times and each time I stive to explore new routes. Last time we ran from Milano to Barcelona then up to Paris over the Pyrenees.
Just do not out drive your vision. Lots of SLOW stuff mixed in with very fast.

thanks guys,
I did a fantastic tour in 2004 on my last 1200LT, France, Belguim, Germany, Switzerland, just touched Italy (Mont Blanc tunnel) I'm looking forward to doing the same sort of thing again, although we'll be taking a straighter route down to Italy this time (crossing the new bridge http://bridgepros.com/projects/Millau_Viaduct/) There were some FANTASTIC roads (the Rhine and Mosel valleys) as well as the passes through the Alps.

Hi some of our tours go throught the region south of Millau.
I can suggest you get on the following roads: from Millau (get over the bridge which by the way is on a motorway with not that many twisty roads but with a lot of speed controls ;) ) get out of the motorrway to catch the road des Gorges de la Jonte and the Aven Armand (east), from there you can climb up and down the Mont Aigoual. Tehn you can either go north to Florac and all the twisty curvy roads around the Cévènes or Down towards Nîmes. If you feel it going northwards towards Bollène will take you through the Gorges de l'Ardèche: perfect road and great curves.
After that you can either stop in Avignon for a visit of the Cité des Papes or Nîmes. Make sure you go all the way down to the coast to cruse along the sea side towards the Italian Border. If you have time don't miss the Camargue.
By the way we have a lot of notes about food and drink in those regions on our blog (http://www.unicornadventures.org/index.php?Motorcycle-tours-passion-in-southern-europe).

For me, the two "must-see" things in the S. of France are Carcassonne and the Pont du Gard.
I've got a friend who runs a neat little B&B about 10 miles from the Pont du Gard if you're going to stay the night there. PM me if you want his POC.
Have a great ride!
