Is there anything kewler than starting to repeatedly head out to the garage and staring at the bike and beginning to tweak its various farkleizations in anticipation of it being ready to point down a long road in about a month? And watch a pile of gear growing on the floor nearby, calculated to the nearest cubic inch of volume and ounce of weight, ... deciding to cut 3/4ths of the handle off the tooth brush to gain enough room to bring an extra set of rear pads. Decisions, decisions! Critical tradeoffs!
I'll be heading out early to do some riding in the area before the event cranks, leaving a month from tomorrow. I've found over the last ten years that I tend to get involved in volunteering to work registration or merchandise or something ... talking to old friends, meeting someone new in an hour that I've only chatted with online, and before long, another day has passed that I did not get to ride much. And I've got to be sure to be there early to meet an iron butt rider to sign off his ride in from Chandler, AZ.
I've been to Sturgis twice, once on my LT, once on a Road King, so I've seen a lot of the real estate around the area, but this time I look forward to seeing it without having to walk the motorcycle completely through town several times a day.
As more than one of you has pondered already, ... ARE WE THERE YET! Yates, I hope you have not given up scotch. I want your autograph.
