We're here in Gray, TN for the BMWMOA rally! So are a few (!) other BMW riders. We have a great RV parking spot, just across from the BMW Motorrad trailer. From inside the RV we can watch the demo rides leave and return, and the talented guys doing stunts on BMWs. Lynn Keen stopped for a visit - he's staying at a nearby KOA campground. I'm told that Don Norwood is riding around in a golf cart, but I haven't seen him yet. Gonna take one of the recommended rides tomorrow, and win a new GS at tomorrow's closing ceremony. Then on to WV to catch next weekend's BMWRA rally. We'll think about heading home ... sometime. Wish y'all could be here.

Hey Cowboy Bob! Talked to Jaybird (aka Slomka) yesterday afternoon and he said the several of the SE boys are there, Al (Ranger6), Doug Roarda, Al Strickland, Don Norwood, and I have forgotten the nice couple from the coast of NC was there (yeah it's oldtimer's disease). :D :wave

Don must really like the golfcarts, at IronHorse last year he commandeered their cart while staying in the house on the hill, one of the employees didn't like that; I agree with Don, they should have a spare cart (or taxi service) or two to climb the gravel hill, LT's aren't made to climb steep rocky hills! :wave

Was going to make the ride but had mentioned a ride with one of my winger buddies up to the mountains of NC and N Georgia.

Have a great Rally. :bmw:

I can't believe there are so many LT's here at the rally! I have talked to quite a few that weren't even aware of this site!

It was great here today, I finally stopped raining and the temp was around 70 with sunshine and NO HUMIDITY! The wife and I rode the SNAKE, North East Tennessee's version of the Dragon. It was a great ride on a beautiful day and this evening I'm planning on leaving the Fair Grounds on my new R1300GS. Sorry Bob you can't have it 'cause it's mine!!:) The bad news is that I'll have to leave this great weather all too soon and return to the hot humid dog days of summer in Florida.

I'm sorry to say, neither Lynn nor I won a bike. Overall, a great rally. I guess many tent campers had to camp on sloping ground - that's the only negative comment I heard. Almost 9,000 people were there. Finally saw Don Norwood at the closing ceremony. On our way to the RA rally in WV.

LT's RULE!
Did the Snake and freaked when an airhead rider was w/in a foot of the center line doing 20 mph until he finally pulled over! :bike:

Great Rally especially when I had a king bed at a local motel. :)

1,200+ miles door-to-door and many thumbs up especially for my flowers which was a gift from a female rider friend for being an escort on the way down through Southern Ohio-WV-KY-VA and finally Tennessee!.

The whole thing was really well done!
Finally managed to ride the Dragon - and w/o much traffic! Also the Foothills Parkway and the Snake.
Phenomenal scenery and great roads!

My daughter and I were at the rally. She won the youngest female rider award for riding her Ninja 250. We enjoyed it - especially the Blue Ridge Parkway. We're still heading home - we've been in Pensacola for a day but leave here tomorrow morning.

Hey Dave,
Congratulations to your daughter, and yourself. That's quite a ride for the young lady and certainly a great father/daughter experience. Reminds me of times about 30 or so years ago when all three of my kids used to take turns motorcycle camping with 'ol Dad. They didn't ride their own bikes at the time, but sure do have some great memories from those long weekend trips.
