Headin' back to TX

Les (skylark) just left for his trip back to TX with his new, to him, 2002 K1200LT. It's still a little dark here in Lodi, CA, but he wanted to get going to try to miss any heavy rain. He's heading down 12 to I-5, then south to 46 to cut over to 99. He'll be heading down thru Tehachapi to Needles and try to make Blythe early evening for the first day's ride. On 2nd day he'll pick up 10 and to try to make El Paso or thereabouts. 3rd day - lunch with Tumbleweeds in Odessa/Midland, then meet up with me in Abilene and we'll ride back together to Justin TX. Now if we can just sell his truck and get me a CLC...... :)

Hey, Victoria --- be on the lookout for Les; he's gonna be hard to recognize after that many miles of smiles!!! Them grins git pretty wide!! :) :D

Thanks Dick! We lived in San Antonio for about 14 years after we moved to TX and love the whole area.

We rode with another group to Fredericksburg last year around the end of April and we were just discussing how much we enjoyed it. We're planning on doing it again soon!

Les called me about 15 mins ago. He didn't quite make it to Blythe. He made it to Needles and they're telling him it's another 100 miles to Blythe, so he's probably going to stay there tonight. Neither one of us is very good at night riding - eyes are getting old. ;)

Said the bike was great, but his new helmet sucks. :mad: The cheek pads are too tight and there's a spot in the crown that needs more padding. Says it's torture.

He'll have to add the extra 100 miles to his Saturday trip to make it to El Paso or close to there. :confused:

Well, Les made it from Needles, CA to El Paso, TX today - about 700 miles. He's one tired puppy. I made it back from CA tonight. Headin' out in the morning with a group of about 8 people to have lunch @ Harold's Bar-B-Q in Abilene and meet up with Les for the rest of the ride home.

Thats a pretty good run for somebody new to the LT, Victoria. Glad Les is gettin' acquainted with his new ride, and I'm real glad he dodged the semi-rough weather that central Texas had today. Y'all have a safe ride tomorrow.

I'm headin' out to Abilene to meet up with Les. Hopefully he'll arrive around 2pm.

We're meeting at the TX Roadhouse on Danville Rd. Turns out Harolds's BBQ is closed on Sunday. :( Guess we'll have to save that for another long ride day. :)
