just wondering how BMW attach them rails to the tank in the first place, is it not possible to remove them and fill the holes/paint the tank?

Well in regards of removing the rail: it is very easy as there are only 4 screws if I remember well. But once remowed you get a sort of ugly uplift. There is no need to repaint but there is no existing tank mat and not one with magnets will work as the whole thing is plastic.

maybe baglux will get round to making a system for it, if the demand is there.

I am getting a BMW tank bag as part of my bike purchase.. If this BMW bag is so poor what is the general concesus on the BEST bag out there? I find it hard to believe that some after market companies havent gotten around to making some bags that take advantage of the rail system on the new RT's.

I did a lot of surfing on this and finally opted for a Wunderlich. Not a great savings, but a more versatile bag than the BMW IMHO
