I just got the new 3GS iPhone and need to load some new music. I'm thinking maybe the 50 best cross country road trip driving songs. What should be on that list?

Probably not what you're looking for but Dvorak's Symphony No.9 in E minor "From the New World" is perfect for traveling in the expanses west of the Mississippi.

The New World Symphony was part of the classical loop that Southwest had paying during the red eye from Vegas to Orlando a couple years ago. Listened through the loop twice, I enjoyed it so much.

Well, I'm a red-neck :cboy: so YMMV, but I always start my trips and end them with "On The Road Again" by Willie Nelson. There's a line that goes something like "makin' music with my friends," and I substitute the words "ridin' scooters with my friends"....and I can't wait to get on the road again.

Dead skunk in the middle of the road

Whew - that's an oldie - an a good choice. Never would have thought about that one.

My wife and I were going somewhere in South GA several years ago and I was telling her about that song (after passing an area that a skunk passed - whatever) - and it came on the radio. Talk about wierd.

(and a few that may be a bit adventurous for you, Hans)::) :) haha, funny guy, don't underestimate this ol redneck!
There's a few that I haven't heard yet but none that I'm afraid of,

Although I prefer country my father was a marching band musician back in his youth (Sousa phone)
I used to hate his music growing up, but with age I have learned to appreciate all good music

My wife just shakes her head sometimes cause I'll be listening to John Phillip Sousa, Beethoven,
then Bo Didley and right into Moe Bandy and Dave Dudley.

Well, if you like a little old school rock, "I can't drive 55!" Also, a lesser know Tom Waits (Eagles) song: "Ol' 55." How about some shit-kicker? "I love a rainy knight," by Eddie Rabbitt.

That's a plus one on "Hot Rod Lincoln"

I'm not into Country that much but it does remind me of good times with my parents so "Mama Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" is always in there some where.

Cheers
