Doug Shonley, one of our members who lives near Rapid City, made some videos of some of the local rides in the Black Hills area (Thanks, Doug!!). Having driven some of these in a car in the rain, they were enticing then. Seeing them on a sunny day from a bike has me itching to get out there, now!

Are we there yet???

David,
I am in the processing of posting a new video up on YouTube. It is uploading now. When complete you should be able to find it by doing a search on CCR2009 Roads. We did a ride out to the Badlands to get some more places for the Adventure Run and while we were there did some video. I used the GT this time as a platform.

I added three more new videos. This is of Spearfish Canyon Part 1, 2, and 3.
I got a new video camera. I think it does a pretty good job.
You can find these on YouTube by doing a search for CCR2009.

Thanks,

Douglas

ps. This ought to get people excited about riding the roads

David,

This weekend we did a little more riding in the Black Hills. I did a video of the gravel road leading up Mount Coolidge. From on top you can see the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, and Crazy Horse. I rode up there on the GT and found the gravel not a problem and would feel comfortable taking a LT up there. The view is fantastic. I did a little of the view at the end of the video, but it really doesn't do it justice. Again the video can be found on YouTube doing a search on CCR2009.

Enjoy,

I have added video of the Needles Highway. My hope is after seeing some of these roads you will see why I love to ride in the Black Hills. Enjoy the ride. Also if you have any questions about any of the roads up here, just ask.

Enjoy,

We updated the Suggested Riding Routes (http://www.curvecowboyreunion.com/CCR2009/routes.php) page on the website to include a few embedded videos, a query to find all of the videos Doug uploaded and a couple of Garmin map files David Taylor created to include most of the routes. You can download the Garmin files and import them into your GPS for use while you are in the area.

Many thanks to Doug and David for all their effort.

I just returned from riding those roads for a couple days. We stayed in Deadwood while we were there and loved the riding. Those of you going to the hills will love the area. My wife's parents had a cabin on the Iron Mountain road near Mt. Rushmore when she was growing up.
