Found this in todays Grand Forks Herald.

An accident south of Grand Forks sent two people to Altru Hospital Friday night, according to the State Highway Patrol.

Wes Thompson, 49, and his passenger, Cheryl Thompson, 46, both of Thompson, N.D., were heading north on a Kawasaki in the 1100 block of 11th Street Northeast while a Chevy pickup driven by Dean Drees, 46, also of Thompson, was pulling a pontoon southbound just after 8 p.m.

A mattress on the pontoon blew out, Trooper Adam Dvorak said, and struck the motorcyclists who skidded into the ditch. Drees was cited for not having the load secured.

I have had 2 bed mattresses fly out of pickups just in front of me. Also had a hot water heater roll off a flat bed truck and block almost the entire lane.

Be very aware of what you follow and plan for the worst.

Higher than one would expect. I see this crap more in the metropolitan areas than on the open back roads, but you got to watch out there too. You never know what's going to come off farm implement, farm truck or boat. And secured loads on open tractor trailers scare me the fool out of me on the Interstate.

I fear open bed trucks with stuff piled up in them. I get around them as fast as I can......

Here here... +1 on that. I don't hang around any semi any longer than I have to.
And in harvest time here in Flatville it can get worse than a pee-shooter fight getting around grain trucks.
