I got mine from Dan Kyle Racing. He's a vendor here. Let him know you're with the LT forum and ask for a deal. Very happy with the shocks and had them delivered in a week.

yep that is what he emailed me - good price.
Do they come with different spring selection for your weight and use?

Yes Dan gets weight of you & SO , how much time riding solo & 2 up. Riding style hyway VS twisties , Then they put the proper springs on to fit you. Plus they do all that and ship in 1 day.

Since I don't have anything to compare to, how do you know you need shocks? Does the bike bounce up and down a lot, bottom out, or do something wierd in a corner? Just curious. I know I need a different seat because this one hurts my butt, but, not sure how one knows they need new suspension. I remember Steve saying before that he needed new shocks but when I look at his videos they look pretty darn smooth to me.
Thanks for taking time out to help us newbies,
Dave

Shocks degrade so slowly overtime you never really notice them going away until they're replaced. My first LT came with Ohlins installed so I didn't know what a poor handling bike was like. When I had to replace it, the replacement came with OEM shocks on it with 63K+ miles on them. I knew they were shot when I put the Ohlins from the first bike on it. There is no way to describe the handling difference both one and two up.

If you have over 30,000 miles on stock shocks, you need new ones. As already said, this is not something that just happens all of a sudden, but very slowly over time so you really don't notice it so much.
One sure sign is when you hit a pot hole, you get a pretty solid hit on the front, often with a pretty hard "klunk".
Also, when in twisty turns, you get some little wallowing going into and coming out.
Ohlins seem pretty expensive, but when you compare to well over $800 for a pair of stocks, and the Ohlins can be completely rebuilt for about $100 each, at the first rebuild at around 30,000 miles you have already saved money over buying new stock shocks.
Again, as also stated earlier, you really do not realize how bad your stocks are until you put on a set of Ohlins and go for a ride. A huge eye opener, as the Ohlins make the bike BETTER than new. Much better ride even than new stocks.
