G'day from the great southern land, or as of just recent days the land of the great southern bushfires.........(happens every year,... some just worse than others).
Being born in Hereford UK, but emigrated to Oz wayyyy back in '72, I longingly look at some of you guys just tripping across from pommyland (UK) to Europe and floating around these countries on a whim and a prayer....Malki being the poor unfortunate....geeeezzzz what a crap holiday all from peeking at the GPS on the move.....
Back in "my" days, (Triumph Tiger 110 650cc) a trip to London (150 mile away) was a huge expedition, only attempted by those with money and a good reliable bike...hehhehehehhehe what a laugh when I think back.....
ok...dunno if any of you guys flick across to the Oz forum or not....but I posted this little step by step operation of changing the rear shock.
Beryl Beemer is a 99 model and this operation shoulda been done yeaaarrrrsss ago....Haven't done the front yet but on the radar scope to do...
Rear shock cost ex BMW Melbourne is $950, or $1250 for after market Ohlin.
Mate of mine in Melbourne (I'm in Sydney) just happened to have a rear shock in the cupboard of his office, from an Ebay purchase. K12 owner modified his 6 month old machine into a trike so didn't have use for the shock.
Sunday morning, slightly overcast, working out in the driveway, perfect.....couldn't have picked a better day. Some of the days here lately have been on the warm side and this is not a job to do when it is in the high 30 deg C area.....
See attached instructions.....
Hmmmm maybe one day I'll get back home, with a K12 somewhere, it just looks soooooo tempting tripping around Europe (lived on the trains for a month, Eurorail pass, with two really small kids (6 months and 2 year old) plus wife, visiting 16 countries, back in '81)....wayyyy to go.
All the best to you guys an gals out there...
