G'day all

Was on the net the other day and did an on line quote using Shannons Insurance. They're now looking after motocycles as well as cars. FOund out that I can almost halve my previous insurance monthly bill. I was using Suzuki (Swann Insurance) at around $90 / month and it is now down to $55 / month.
This is for agreed value $28k, garaged and with disk lock as protection.

I have included the tow bar, Starcom intercom / 2 way radio and the head light protector for no extra charges. Bonus :D .

The only mods they're concerned about are engine mods, no real dramas doing body / comfort type extras.

Link: www.shannons.com.au or 13 46 46.

Might be worth a try. HTH.

Hey BigDog...
Yep, been with Shannons for years and got a couple of cars with them too..

Had a claim a few years ago and their service was nothing short of fantastic!

When it comes to bike insurance I would certainly recommend them!

I read that if you use your bike on a regular daily base, like commuting then it isn't that much cheaper, if at all then others. Do you have such big differences in cost with insurance companies in the land of Oz?

Shannons Insurance (and I guess others too) provide a discount for those who don't do many miles...I guess their reasoning being that the less the bike is on the road, the less likely to be involved in an incident.

With my policy, the discount kicks in at 8,000km or less per year...but I believe it would be difficult for them to know if you have actually travelled more than this...as they don't record your millage at any stage. Currently I am doing less than this anyway (of course) so not an issue...:D

Interesting, will have to check next time to see if things have changed.
I've been with QBE for several years since I got back into riding, did check Shannons but they were quite a bit more expensive at the time, and I'm on 60% no claim bonus.
Mind you, if they consider the km's, then that might have a significant effect on quote. I've put just under 10,000km in 4 months, and regularly used to do around 40,000km/year in the car.
Always pays to check around...
