$24.58 LT Oil Filter kit from Daytona BMW

A friend of mine was in FL the other day and said he was going by Daytona BMA and asked if I needed anything. I told him I would like a LT Oil Filter kit which he said he would bring me.

Well he dropped by my office late this morning and I now have (1) Oil Filter - $19.47 (11421460845) ; (1) Gasket ring (crush washer) - $1.14 (07119963300) ; and (1) O Ring $2.49 (11131460425) plus 6.5% sales tax.

Anyone know a reason a dealer would do this other than just pure greed or ignorance? As far as I can tell, the oil filter kit is still 11002300053 - which includes all the above. Did I miss a change? I found invoices from previous purchases from Chicago BMW for $10.64 each.

I checked pricing at our store -

11421460845 is $19.48

11002300053 is $19.88

It is a kit though. The o-ring and washer are in the box.

I suspect a new person on the parts counter....

The K bike one has the O ring the R bike one does not. They sold you the R bike filter...

Do the K and R Bikes have the same 11421460845 part number as stated in your reply and that is on the box on my desk?

053 is the K bike kit
845 is the R bike filter

This is information I've pulled from other posts on the forum. Do a Google search and you can find some them for less then $5 each.

053 is the K bike kit
845 is the R bike filter

They knew it was for a LT because they sold my friend the rest of the parts for the kit. I still say that was a low down thing to do when they could have sold him the kit - which is what I asked for. My friend had a LT for several years and posted on this site - so he knew what to ask for.

As to the other filters that fit, yes I knew about those as well as one other.

I like Beemerboneyard. Kit with 6 of the Bosch filters, 6 crush washers, 1 of the rubber O-rings, and an oil filter wrench that will fit up in the well, all for $50.98 plus shipping. That's $8.50 per oil change and you get to keep the wrench.

UP DATE:

My friend that picked up the above mentioned filter for me called Daytona this morning about the filter and parts VS a filter kit for the LT and was told they knew it was an RT (1100 Series) filter when they sold it to him but said it would work on the LT AND that they did not stock filer kits.

Live and learn.
