Hello,
I'm thinking of riding toward Santa Fe or that area for Easter Weekend. Any thoughts on weather this time of year, or recommendations for good hotels or places to eat?
Thanks,

I recommend Tomasita’s on South Guadalupe. Being from Virginia, I don't get to Santa Fe often, but when I do it is a required stop.

Dale,
Where did you go for Easter weekend? I assume you didn't go to Santa Fe. The weather could have been nice this time of year but it wasn't exactly good riding weather. Thursday and Friday was very nice. Friday evening a massive thunderstorm blew in. Lightning and snow at the same time. It snowed and hailed off and on all day saturday. Snow again on Sunday morning too.

Your're right. I bailed out on the Santa Fe plan and went west to Laughlin, and played around the river. It was an interesting trip, and a great time with good weather. I've only been to Laughlin on a work trip, but most of the route is very familiar. I did take old Rt. 66 through Oatman. That was a fun road, and I even managed to not get stuck behind the groups of Harley riders for very long, or in the fun bits. They won't be out in force around there for another week or so. A guy pulled up next to me at a stop light in a pickup with one bike in the back and one on a trailer asking where I rode in from. He was also from Tucson, and said he was scared of the rain, so he took the truck. We never even put on the rain gear, just a little heavy humidity and a bit of wind. Not even enough rain to clean the bike. Also, while my wife and I were putting on our helmets in the parking lot of the hotel, in Nevada (a helmet law state), a kind lady in a truck suggested that "Wow, it's gay to wear helmets." I think Laughlin is a Harley kind of town. ;) I don't want to bash Harleys, I love their bikes and rode them for years, but some of the riders and wannabes turn me into a curmudgeon.
I think it was for the best, since it looks like too many great roads around Sante Fe for a three day weekend. I will be looking for a couple of more days to spend around there. And I will check out Tomasita's. I am also looking forward to a repeat visit to Pietown on the way. God, I loved that apple-green chile pie. I wish I was eating some now.
